The UK's Carbon Offsetting Initiative
Helping British Individuals and Businesses make an impact on Climate Change is the reason Carbon Neutral Britain was founded in 2020.
Due to overwhelming support the organisation has rapidly expanded, with an new headquarters based in Central London. So far their projects have already offset over 500,000 Tonnes of CO²e and planted over 3 million Trees, helping stop climate change and providing essential forest habitats for endangered wildlife.
To support this initiative, we partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset our carbon footprint and supported UK based Woodland Trust to offset 375.67 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The Woodland Trust Project
In particular, we support the Woodland project in the UK. One of the major objectives is the creation of new native woodland in the Yorkshire Dales. Currently, only 2.5% of the National Park is covered with native broadleaf trees compared with the national average of 8%. The long term aim is to almost double the amount of broadleaf cover in the National Park to 5000 hectares!
About the Wood
Bargh Wood is around half a mile from Stainforth and can be accessed via the Ribble Way.
It is a native broadleaf woodland with sweeping views towards Pendle Hill and Pen-y-Ghent, creating vital habitat for wildlife and interest in the landscape. 4,800 trees have been planted including Sessile Oak, Rowan, Holly, Downy Birch, Alder, Scots Pine, Quick Thorn and Willow - all ideal species for the exposed site.
The woodland is also part of YDMT’s Plastic Free Woodlands project, supported by the European Outdoor Conservation Association, which aims to create woodlands free of plastic. More than 100 of the trees have been planted with alternative tree guards, as part of a trial that covers five other sites.
